Have you ever had those moments in your life when you wished you could make time stand still? I had one of those moments the other night.
Every night before Logan goes to bed, either Kristi or I, or both of us together, read to him. Usually it consists of 3 or 4 books that he loves to look at and point to and help turn the pages of. It's one of my favorite times of the day. Sunday night, we added a new book to the rotation... a Christmas book, called Christmas In The Manger.
As we read the book to him, the most overwhelming feeling came over me. I realized that this was the first time we had ever told Logan the Christmas story. See, he was born on December 27th last year, so this year will be his first Christmas. And even though he's certainly too young to understand what we're talking about, it was one of those moments where you wish you could just press pause and live in it for a little while.
We read about the animals, and about the star and the 3 wise men, about Mary & Joseph, and finally about the baby Jesus. He pointed at the donkeys and the sheep. He smiled at the star. He just sat there in my lap while his mommy and daddy told him about Jesus. It was amazing.
